A flourishing talent in the UK’s R&B scene, Pip Millett reveals her musical firsts to Notion.
With a sold-out UK tour under her belt, 4.5million views on her iconic COLORS show and Jorja Smith counting her as an artistic muse, Pip Millett has solidified her status as one of the most compelling voices in R&B today.
Following on from the success of her critically acclaimed tracks “Running” feat. Ghetts and “Hard Life”, Pip Millett reveals her highly anticipated new EP, ‘Motion Sick’, a culmination of the artist’s commentary on the state of the Black experience in the UK, as well as identity, loss, and female legacy all through the prism of jazz, boom-bap, and hip-hop.
Millett boasts a reputation for reflecting on political and social issues in a deeply thoughtful way, excavating her own personal experience for a rich resource of musical material. Speaking on the EP, which presents Pip’s thoughts on both the outer world as well as her inner life, she explains: ‘I have often felt lost when things around me have started to change. In recent times I’ve realised I’m simply “Motion Sick”. My core self is still there but without change, there cannot be any growth. ‘Motion Sick’ is about the various changes in my life. With this change, I have tried to find comfort in the simple things.’
With her EP around the corner, Notion grills the star on an array of her firsts, from her first instrument to her first gig and more.
